Psalm 31:1-5

Psalm 31:1-5
In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. Keep me free from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.

My temper seems to fray these days
More than it really should
With little reason more than just,
“It did, because it could”.

I sometimes wander through the day
On no directed path,
Yet hope tomorrow will be more
Than today’s aftermath.

And then there are those days when I
Just want to run and hide,
Or pat myself upon the back
In unjustified pride.

I seem inclined to fall prey to
Each trap that sin has laid
And I get lost out in the weeds
Of every plan I’ve made.

Oh, Lord, You are my one refuge,
Deliver me from sin,
And lead me back to the path where
I should have always been.

Help me to stand within Your Word
And not be led astray.
Protect me from myself and from
The traps that sin will lay.
