Worry Or Peace

He settled on the old dock post,
The sunlight on his wings,
And rested in the growing peace
That evening often brings.

I watched him where he sat awhile
As the sun settled low,
And wondered what he understood
That I don’t seem to know.

He seemed at peace with this old world,
Though life was not easy.
It didn’t seem to weigh on him
As it has weighed on me.

It was as if, by mere instinct,
He understood clearly,
God’s plan for us and for our lives,
And how they ought to be.

There’s not enough room in my life
For peace and worry’s gloom.
I need to give worry to God,
That His peace has more room

Matthew 6: 26-27
Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

You Soothe My Soul

They say the scent of lavender
Can soothe a weary mind,
Letting it drift into the peace
It, otherwise, can’t find.

But I have walked this busy world
And scurried through each day,
It isn’t lavender I need,
But to be still and pray.

I need to sit within in Your peace
And listen til I hear
The words of comfort and of hope
That remind me You’re near.

It’s not an easy thing to do,
But I have made the choice
To sit and just be still each day
Until I hear Your voice.

You’re more than lavender to me,
You soothe my weary soul,
And lift me from a broken world,
To heal and make me whole.

Love Will Remain

Too many thoughts to think tonight,
Too many prayers to raise,
Too many reasons to thank You
With words of joyous praise.

I thank You for the struggles, Lord,
And for the times of peace,
I thank You for the laughter and
The tears that bring release.

I lift my heart and sing to You
In sunshine and in rain,
For You love me and, rain or shine,
That love will still remain.

Psalm 98:4
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
