A Place to Rest - Re-Posted

I think upon the Lord each day
And thank Him for the Grace
That carried me thus far in life
And for this peaceful place.

The world is torn by pain and strife
And I have known my share,
But He has given me this time
To shelter in His care.

I know some day I’ll face once more
The troubles that plague man,
But I am grateful for this time
To find what peace I can.

Samuel 12:24
Only fear the Lord and be faithful to worship Him with all your heart. Think of the great things He has done for you.

I'm Not Alone After All - Re-Posted

I used to think I have no choice,
I simply must hold on,
But those days are now in the past
And such thoughts are all gone.

For I have learned to seek my strength
In what God gives to me
And not in that to which I cling
Through insecurity.

The world I loved may now be lost,
But God gave me strong wings.
I’m learning how to fly again
And my sad heart now sings.

So I will rise up in new faith,
Using what God gave me,
And I will not be bound again
To fear or misery!

Psalm 63:7
Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.

Worries on My Tail - Re-Posted

My worries seem to follow me,
Though I try to let go,
As if they know something’s amiss
That I do not yet know.

I feel them breathing down my neck,
I cannot quite break free.
They’re always right there whispering
Their dire thoughts to me.

I try to give them up to You,
But then I call them back.
By then they’ve always multiplied
And are on the attack.

So once again, Lord, here I am,
With worries on my tail
And little doubt that, at this rate,
They’re likely to prevail.

So if You’ll take them back once more
This time I’ll let them stay.
I’ll hold on to Your promises
And cast my qualms away.

1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

I Choose the Light - Re-Posted

I’ve stood in shadows and in light,
And this much I can say,
Though shadow can be alluring,
Light is the only way.

I lived in shadow for a while
But, like the moth, I knew
The Light was filled with what I need,
And closer still I drew.

Now I choose to live in The Light,
I’ve left the dark behind,
Though now and then I find it still
Lingers within my mind.

Yet, in those moments when it calls,
The Light shines brighter still.
The siren song of temptation
No longer holds a thrill.

Psalm 18:28
You make my lamp bright. The Lord my God lights my darkness.

Fresh New Starts - Re-Posted

The inlet, shrouded in a mist,
Was silent before dawn.
The morning, not fully awake,
Began to stir and yawn.

The birds were rustling in the nest,
Their dreams still touched by night.
While the fox, gazing from its den,
Hoped for a glimpse of light.

The day was still a hope unborn,
A promise unfulfilled.
The worries that roamed in the night
Had not yet quite been stilled.

But dawn was just a breath away,
Born upon angel’s wings,
To bless all of the fresh new starts
That every morning brings.

Job 38:7
while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?

In Praise, Not Pride - Re-Posted

Let me not grow vain, my Lord,
About the things I do;
Let any good work that is done,
Be done in praise of you.

For, only when I work in you
And follow where you lead,
Will I have any cause for pride
In any word or deed.

James 1:9
Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.

Beneath His Wing - Re-Posted

The wind is rough, it’s in my face
And I can hardly stand.
I reach for You and You are there,
But You don’t take my hand.

Instead You let the rising winds
Whip me until they bring
Me close enough that You can keep
Me tucked beneath Your wing.

Psalm 36:7
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

He Is Near - Re-Posted

I look up when I call to You
And I can feel You near,
Though I still cannot see Your face
I know that You can hear.

How vast the heavens seem to me,
But they are much too small
To hold the Lord who formed their shape,
Yet answers when I call.

Isaiah 40: 26
Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing

Where My Riches Are - Re-Posted

I count my treasure every day,
Riches pile up for me.
In fact, I am much wealthier
Than I’ve a right to be.
But you won’t find me passing up
The opportunity
To count the riches that are mine
As far as I can see.
So let me count them now once more,
My one, two and my three
Would be the Grace, the Redemption
And the Love You give me.

The rest of it all falls in place
With simple certainty
When I count as my greatest wealth
The fact that You love me.

Matthew 6:21
For wherever your riches are, your heart will be there also.
