Friends Are A Blessing - Re-Posted

I may not always understand
Or recognize gifts from your hand,
But friends are one gift I can see,
And I’m as grateful as can be.

For all the best friends on the earth
Are mine, beyond my meager worth,
And I’m most grateful, my life through,
For all the kind things that they do.

Your Crown, My Treasure - Re-Posted

Some wear their treasures before man,
Adorned for all to see,
Believing that the more they hold,

The finer life will be.

Yet, all the treasure in the world
Could not set my soul free,
But, You did that upon the cross,
And did so willingly.

So I wear Your crown in my heart
Where it is meant to be,
A treasure greater than this world
Will ever again see!

Psalm 103:4
who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion

Rising Waters - Re-Posted

Up to my neck in hot water,
Hoping that I won’t drown,
But, at the rate that it’s rising,
I fear I’m going down.

I know it’s only the moment,
A moment that’s soon past
For, just like the rising waters,
Hard times will never last.

But Lord, while I’m in this moment,
I’m reaching out to You.
Please calm the rising waters, or…
Calm me until it’s through.

Matthew 8:24-26
The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

My Prayer Each Day - Re-Posted

I turn my eyes unto the Lord
And thank Him for His grace;
I ask each dawn that, at day’s end,

I’m in a peaceful place.

I thank Him for the day to come,
Whatever it may bring,
And ask for help to find the joy

In every little thing.

I pray for strength to face the dark
And keep joy in my heart.
I ask that, when I see a need,
I rise and do my part.

I pray for patience, every day,
With those who share my walk;
That I might live the life I preach
And not just talk the talk.

But most of all I praise His name,
That my sins, cruel and grim,
Are washed away, freeing my soul,
In thanks, alone, to Him.

Romans 12:12
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

To Mark Their Sacrifice - Re-Posted

When all the rifles fall silent,
The flag is folded tight;
When tears are all that’s left to hold
Behind the eyes squeezed tight;
That’s when the warrior will march
Into the endless night,
Knowing full well those left behind
Will carry on his fight.

Rest well beneath the close mown grass,
Your service here is done,
For God has called your name on high,
Your victory is won.
But there will always be a place,
Beneath the burnished sun,
To mark the sacrifice you made
When all is said and done.

Psalm 144:1-2
Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle; he is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield and he in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.

All my Thorns - Re-Posted

Be quick to listen, not to speak,
It’s difficult I know.
I tend to speak my every thought,

I let my sharp thorns show.

So help me, Lord, to try harder
To listen and be kind.
I can’t help that I have these thorns,
But make them hard to find.

James 1:19
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry

Remebering Those Lost - Re-Posted

Red poppies and remembrances
Are everywhere today,
Reminding us of those we love
Who have been torn away.
So many faces, names we knew,
That we now speak in grief,
And there is nowhere we can turn
To find our heart’s relief.

They rose to stand against the dark
That we might live in light,
And, though they wanted to come home,
They fell in that great fight.
Though they have gone from us for now
We know we’ll meet once more
When God calls us to join them on
Heaven’s bright, deathless shore.

Until then it’s the little things
That capture all we feel,
Like poppies and remembrances
And hearts that don’t quite heal.
