Make Your Plans In Him

We try to put our plans in place,
Lay out the path we’ll walk.
But there are plans we cannot make,
Despite all our bold talk.

We cannot know what lies ahead,
What waits just out of sight.
We won’t know til we round the bend
What we may have to fight.

We think we have life well in hand,
Until it breaks our heart,
Then all the plans that we have made
Can quickly fall apart.

The only one who knows the road
That lies beyond our view
Is He who shaped the road we’ll walk
Before we ever knew.

So lay your plans, with His in mind,
And, when you reach the bend,
It won’t matter what you might face,
You’ll face it with a friend.

Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

The Quiet Moment

I found myself too close to tears
So many times today,
But You were always near enough
To hear me when I’d pray.

You kept me close beneath Your wing,
And calmed my anxious mind,
Reminding me, despite the stress,
Your peace was there to find.

It was that peace that eased my mind
And lead me to rejoice,
For in that one quiet moment
I heard Your still, small voice.

Ephesians 2:14
For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility

Greater Than I

Sometimes the lessons we must learn
Shatter us to the core,
But then we start to realize
We’re stronger than before.

Yet not all changes come with pain,
Some grow so subtly
That all the world can see in us
Change we may never see.

There are some days, when I look back
At who I was back then,
That I’m astounded and ashamed
Of that life, washed in sin.

But then You called me back to You,
And I came willingly,
To find that when I live in You
I am a better me.

As You are greater than I am,
I’ll live my life in You,
Until the day when I can see
Your glory shining through.

Colossians 3: 2-4
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
