Dreams and Comfort

Lord, You were there when I woke up,
And cried out in the night.
You called me, You reminded me
That, in You, there is light.

The darkest dream still fades away
When I call out to You,
And I am always in Your care
Despite what my dreams do.

The path is difficult most days,
And nights can hold some fear,
But they also prove the promise
That You are ever near.

Lord, thank You for calling my name,
Claiming me as Your own,
And staying close by me all night
So I am not alone.

Psalm 139:12
even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.

In the Storm

I lay down and I rest tonight
Within the wild wind’s roar.
I’ll sleep in peace, without worry,
Not knowing what’s in store,
For I have placed my trust in You
Tonight and ever more.

Psalm 4:8
In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

With Every Dawn

There is no peace in most days, Lord,
Except that found in You.
The world is changing rapidly,
As it is wont to do,
And what was once thought common sense
Is now declared untrue.

We stand, once more, upon the brink,
The darkness looms ahead
And every new shift in the tide
Fills my heart with more dread.
Each side calls out to follow them,
But I trust You instead.

We’ve seen the world turned upside down
More than a time or two.
With each new dawn everything’s changed,
And yet, nothing is new.
The plans of man shift with the wind
And then new winds blow through.

Lord, that is why, with every dawn,
Despite the change it brings,
I lift my voice in praise of You,
My faith filled spirit sings!
For You’re my truth, and You’re my light.
I trust You in all things.

Psalm 113:3
From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised!

Stand In Faith

I love You, Lord. That’s all I have
To offer up tonight.
I’m weary, and dispirited,
But I won’t cease to fight
Against the storms coming my way,
However fierce their might.
I’ve fixed my eyes upon You, lord,
And I’ll follow Your Light.

I love You, Lord. You are my strength,
The rock to which I cling,
And I will not give in to tears.
I’ll stand in faith and sing!

Psalm 18:1
He said: I love you, O Lord, my strength.
