Psalm 31:1-5

Psalm 31:1-5
In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. Keep me free from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.

My temper seems to fray these days
More than it really should
With little reason more than just,
“It did, because it could”.

I sometimes wander through the day
On no directed path,
Yet hope tomorrow will be more
Than today’s aftermath.

And then there are those days when I
Just want to run and hide,
Or pat myself upon the back
In unjustified pride.

I seem inclined to fall prey to
Each trap that sin has laid
And I get lost out in the weeds
Of every plan I’ve made.

Oh, Lord, You are my one refuge,
Deliver me from sin,
And lead me back to the path where
I should have always been.

Help me to stand within Your Word
And not be led astray.
Protect me from myself and from
The traps that sin will lay.

Psalm 30:4-5

Psalm 30:4-5
Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people; praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.

I’ve watched the years pass by me, Lord,
Some good and some not so.
I walked in darkness through some days,
But still You helped me grow.

I know I let You down more times
Than I care to recall,
And yet You always picked me up
When I’d stumble and fall.

There were times when I knew for sure
That You might be angry,
But You forgave even the worst
Of my effrontery.

My tears have fallen more than once
In sorrow or in shame,
But each time You gave me comfort,
And called me by my name.

So, I will praise You, Holy One,
Then when the night grows long.
I’ll let my tears reflect Your grace,
And raise my voice in song.

Psalm 29:1-4

Psalm 29: 1-4
Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.
The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.

The ocean waves crash on the beach.
Their voices boom and roar,
As if they are declaring war
Upon the peaceful shore.

They froth and shake their fierce white manes.
Relentlessly they pour
Across the endless ocean depths
Upon the peaceful shore.

How vast the oceans, reach and mien.
The power at its core
Can be felt over all the earth,
Upon each peaceful shore.

Yet, all the oceans mighty rage
Can nothing hold in store
Compared to the voice of the Lord
Who formed each peaceful shore.

His voice thunders above the waves,
His song they can’t ignore.
Even the waves tremble and flee
To hide upon the shore.

Oh, sing you waves and fierce wild winds,
Sing praises ever more!
Praise Him whose holy voice thunders
Above the peaceful shore.
