Sing To the Lord

Sing to the Lord with all your heart
Lift up your voice in praise
For He has called you into life
And guards you all your days.

Lift up your voice and call with joy
To heaven’s only king,
To him who brought light to the world
Lift up your voice and sing.

Psalm 18:49
For this I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations, and sing to your name.

How Things Improve

Today started in weary tones,
And it ended that way,
But none the less, I thank You, Lord,
For giving me this day.

It wasn’t the best day I’ve had,
But I’ve had many worse,
For I found cause to lift You thanks,
And felt no need to curse.

I worked hard and I got things done.
Though I wish I’d done more.
You helped me focus on kindness,
And not on keeping score.

You told me to just take a breath,
Be patient through the stress,
As far more blessing come from Grace
Than are born in duress.

You showed me that I can stay calm
Within the storm’s wild heart.
Well, maybe calm’s not quite the word,
But it was a good start.

Though this day began wearily,
And seemed, at times, a trial,
It also showed how things improve
With kinds words and smile.

Proverbs 31:26
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

He Knows Their Names

He knows the name of every star,
They move at His command.
He formed the heavens and the earth
And holds them in His hand.

For eons each star lights the sky,
While man slips fast away,
And nothing can alter that course,
For He’s planned it that way.

His stars shine fiercely in the night,
Yet I’m humbled to know
That He, who calls each star by name,
Calls me by mine, also.

In Your Peace

Within the turbulence of life,
There is a place of peace.
A place where I can go, knowing
That turbulence will cease.
A place where I will find just You,
And Your precious release.

I don’t seek peace within this world,
This world has none to spare.
While You have spoken to my heart
Of the peace You will share,
The peace that conquers all my fears
And relieves my despair.

Oh, Lord, I come with open heart,
Your perfect peace to claim.
The peace that You offer to those
Who leave behind their shame
And seek You and Your promised peace,
Asking in Jesus’ name.

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
