Evening Peace

Stillness slips into my heart,
My mind slows its wild pace.
It’s in such stillness that I see
The promise of His Grace.

The world can keep me running fast,
Sometimes, too fast to think,
But in the stillness I hear Him,
And step back from the brink.

The day is vibrant with the light
And all the hope it brings.
Yet it is in the still of dusk
When my weary heart sings.

I praise the Lord with all heart
And work hard through the day.
Then settle into evening’s peace
To lift up thanks and pray.

Philippians 4:9
What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Peace In The Maelstrom

In this life there will be troubles,
I’m living proof of that.
I can walk into a maelstrom
At the drop of a hat.

Although I may not see it now,
God is still in control,
And while this world may rattle me,
It cannot rock my soul.

For that is safely in His hand.
Thus, while the wild winds wail,
My soul is nestled in His peace
Despite this world’s travail.

John 16:33
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Born Anew

You lifted me up from my sin,
Redeemed my broken soul.
I am renewed, I am reborn,
My brokenness made whole.

I cannot fathom why it’s so,
But I will not forget
That You loved me despite my sin,
And, paid in full, my debt.

Lord, I am born again in You.
Whatever lies in store,
I’ll praise You, Savior, Lord of Life,
Now and forever more.

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
