All Authority

We plant the garden, seed by seed,
But His hand makes it grow.
He is the reason we harvest
From those seeds that we sow.

We can’t control the universe,
That lies within His hand,
And all the planets hold their course
Because of His command.

We think we have authority,
That we are in control,
But that power rests in the One
Who breathes life in each soul.

Walk through this life, boundless in Joy,
But keep the truth in sight,
Though we may plant the seeds each year
They grow within His Light.

Matthew 28:18
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Beginning and End

Tonight I need to rest a while,
I’m weary to my core.
I need to spend some time with You,
To be still and restore.

The weeks have grown much busier,
While nights are dark and long,
And it seems like too many things
Find some way to go wrong.

But in the end, things always seem
To lead me back to You.
You're the beginning and the end
Of everything I do.

You watched me when I rose at dawn,
Guarded my busy day,
And as the night settles in place
Your gaze still turns my way.

Lord, I am weary, mind and soul,
I need some time with You.
You’re my beginning and my end
And You will lead me through.

Revelation 1:8
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Learning Patience

The ins and outs, the ups and downs,
The struggles of each day
All have to be faced with patience.
They will not go away.

But patience isn’t my strong suit,
In fact, that suit is weak.
I doubt that I will find patience,
However hard I seek.

I know I have to learn patience,
But must it take so long?
I wish there was an easy way
To speed the class along?

This world has lessons we must learn,
And mine is to be still.
I’ll swallow my pride, learn patience…
At least I hope I will.

Ecclesiastes 7:8
The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.
