Like Gems of Love - Re-Posted

My thoughts get lost within Your word,
They linger in my mind,
And when I face a troubled day
They’re always there to find.

They sparkle in the tangled webs
Of worries or despair
And help me to remember that,
No matter what, You’re there.

The little gems of precious love
That lift from me my pain
And help to remember that
The hard times won’t remain.

Proverbs 4:4
Then he taught me, and he said to me, “Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live.

Turned To The Light - Re-Posted

I keep my face turned to The Light,
Though sometimes I’m afraid
That I will be held out because
Of the mistakes I’ve made.

I keep my face turned to The Light
In the hope that I’ll see
A clearer path than what I’m on
To be whom I should be.

I keep my face turned to The Light,
However dark the days,
And I let the Light fill my heart
By singing songs of praise.

I keep my face turned to the Light
That someday I might see
The face of my Lord, who redeemed
A wretched soul like me.

John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Watchful and Learning - Re-Posted

Patience is a difficult thing,
But slowly I have learned.
Wisdom is harder to come by,
And often harshly earned.

Have faith the size of mustard seeds!
It’s tougher than it sounds.
Sometimes I question if You’re there,
Though proof You’re there abounds.

You’ve placed me where You needed me.
I fought You all the way,
But now I understand the cause
And I will gladly stay.

So many things that You expect
I just can’t comprehend,
But with great patience You teach me
And I learn, in the end.

But some concepts are simpler,
Your words are clear and plain.
So I will watch and wait and pray
Until You come again.

Colossians 4:2
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

When All is Said and Done - Re-Posted

When all the rifles fall silent,
The flag is folded tight;
When tears are all that’s left to hold
Behind eyelids squeezed tight;
That’s when the warrior will march
Into the endless night,
Knowing full well those left behind
Will carry on his fight.

Rest well beneath the close mown grass,
Your service here is done,
For God has called your name on high,
Your victory is won.
But there will always be a place,
Beneath the burnished sun,
We mark the sacrifice you made
When all is said and done.

Psalm 144:1
Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle;

The Incomprehensible - Re-Posted

The hills stretch back millennia
The seas are older still,
And yet they are a passing thought
When compared to Your will.

The stars will burn out in a blink,
And new stars take their place,
But even their bright, burning lives
Merely reflect your face.

I speak the words, they’re meaningless.
I still can’t understand
The power over time and form
Resting within Your hand.

Oh Lord, how far does Your hand reach,
How old your memories,
And how am I to comprehend
Such miracles as these?

Proverbs 8:27-28
I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep

Thankful For the Blessings - Re-Posted

For holding me safe in Your hand
For helping me to understand
For new lessons that You have planned
For all these things, Oh Lord I pray.

For ups that follow all the downs
For all the laughter and the frowns
For fallen lives turned into crowns
For all these things, Oh Lord, I pray.

The Grace that saved the world from sin
Then rose up from the grave again
The savior of the world of men
Oh Lord, I thank You and Amen!

A Better Perspective - Re-Posted

Oh Lord, my life has not been hard.
Though I have faced travail,
I’ve never lived life with the doubt
That I might not prevail.

There are so many who face death
Each day that they awake,
While I live in safety and ease
With every breath I take.

The woes I face are simple things,
Inconvenient at worst.
Yet “woe is me” still seems to be
The place that I go first.

I don’t live with hunger and thirst
That many others know.
Yet, I tell myself life is hard
When that is just not so.

So let me not lose sight of this.
When I fuss and complain,
Remind me that my life is free
Of the worst fear and pain.

For self-pitying thoughts I’ve had
Now and again today,
I ask You for forgiveness, Lord.
Help me cast them away.
