You Make Me Smile

In stillness I can hear your voice,
In hope, I feel your grace
And in the heavens wide array
I almost see Your face.

I know that You are ever near,
Yet it brings me delight
When suddenly I feel Your touch,
However swift and light.

There are so many little ways
You let me know You’re there.
You pour Your joy into my heart
When I’m lost in despair.

You send me gifts You know I’ll love,
Like blossoms filled with bees
Or summer fruit, ripe on the boughs
In an orchard of trees.

But, oh what joy it brings to me
When I sit down a while
And You hold me within Your peace…
Lord, that will make me smile.

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

As White As Snow

When I left home I hoped I’d be
A reflection of You,
But even I felt vast dismay
Before the day was through.

I let my frustrations control
The words I chose to speak
Until I stood within the sin
I didn’t want to seek.

It seems I let the world lead me
Instead of holding true
To the path I am called to walk.
The path that leads to You.

I didn’t hold myself up to
The standard that You set,
And now I ask the forgiveness
I don’t deserve to get.

Oh, Lord, I pray, again, for grace
And strength to stand up to
All of the daily frustrations
That distract me from You.

The simple sins of every day,
That seem so small, and yet
They turn a heart from flesh to stone,
And grace becomes regret.

Oh, Lord, please wash my soul, once more,
Until it’s white as snow
Then help me hold on to Your grace,
And let all the rest go.

Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
