Waiting Between Breaths - Re-Posted

We’re in the time of waiting now,
That pause between two breaths.
The moment between redemption
And all life’s hopeless deaths.

I know that I have been redeemed,
But still I mark this night,
Praying that darkness will soon be
Eclipsed by boundless light.

For once again I realize
What I caused on that cross,
And that He faced it willingly.
To Him, I’m worth the loss.

And so I sit here in the night,
Between life and harsh death,
Waiting in silence for the world
To breathe in heaven's breath.

The Price Is Paid - Good Friday- Re-posted

The darkness fell when he was dead,
As if the world was lost,
And it was then that those who watched
Understood the full cost.

They stood beneath the blood stained cross,
Where He drew His last breath,
And recognized how great the love
They’d witnessed with His death.

So, as the darkness swept the sky,
Turning noon into night,
They laid Him in an empty tomb
And cold death held Him tight.

Luke 23:44-46
It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.

While I Slept - Maundy Thursday-Re-posted

Tonight, out in the garden,
A friend is wrapped in prayer
While I lie near by sleeping
As if I didn’t care

The burden of a sinful world
Will settle on his head
While I lie near by sleeping
Not lending strength instead

They’ll rend and break his body
They’ll tear at mind and soul
While I lie near by sleeping
My body safe and whole

He faces what is coming
Though he prays it might pass
While I lie near by sleeping
In the fragrant grass

Why am I still fast asleep
While he prays on alone
And when they come to take him
How, then, will I atone

Wake up, Wake up! Stay awake!
I cry out in my sleep
But I doze on while he prays…
Tomorrow I will weep

Faithful in Little Things - Re-Posted

Be faithful in the little things,
Not all our lives are grand.
God has different plans for each;
Live your life as He’s planned.

You may be called to do great things,
Or your call may be small,
But you won’t know how great your part,
For you can’t see it all.

Even the humble things in life,
That we do in each day,
Can echo far beyond the lives
That we touch on our way.

So listen when God speaks to you
Of what you are to do,
Then faithfully fulfill that task
Until your task is through.

For God will see your faithful work,
However great or small,
And He still honors faithfulness
In answering His call.

Matthew 25:21
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

Come, Let Us Bow - Re-Posted

Come let us bow before the Lord
And praise His holy name,
For He has borne the sacrifice
And cleansed us of all blame.

Come let us bow before the Lord
And thank Him for his grace,
For He has formed the sun and stars
And cast them into place.

Come let us bow before the Lord
And thank him for his love,
For there is no love formed on earth
Like that spilled from above.

Come let us bow before the Lord
And worship Him with joy,
In humble adoration for
The blessings we enjoy.

Psalm 95:6
Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;

Prayers and Praise - Re-Posted

Yesterday was a hard one, Lord,
Today’s a rough day, too.
I’m praying, by tomorrow’s dawn,
That these hard days are through.

I know the way is never straight
The path’s a rocky climb,
But I could use a level place
To rest for a short time.

Yes, Lord, I know You have a plan
And that plan is in place,
But if it could fit in Your plan,
I sure could use some grace.

Okay, Lord, that is all for me,
My whining now is through.
But let me add one more, small thing…
I’m so grateful to You.

You lift me up when I fall down
And hold me when I cry.
On days like these, when all is rain,
You bring a clearing sky.

I get so caught up in the pain,
The chaos or the grief
That I forget, you offer more
Than just simple relief.

It is Your strength that sees me through,
Your love that dries my tears,
And it is knowing You are there
That helps me face my fears.

Oh Lord, I didn’t mean to gripe,
I’ve just had some tough days,
But while I pray for respite, Lord,
I also sing Your praise!

James 5:13
Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.
