Still to Come - Re-Posted

Had you asked what I did today,
I’d tell you what went wrong.
And, though so much went very well,
I'd wail a mournful song.

But, as I cursed the frustrations
That had made up my day,
I spotted a new poppy bloom,
It’s beauty on display.

I realized that it had bloomed
As morning warmed the air,
But I’d been too wrapped up in pique
To notice it was there.

How many other blessings then
Have I looked past today,
As I went roaring on my path,
Frothing in my dismay?

So I sat down to count the buds
That promised blooms to come
And smiled because I recognized
Who those blessings were from.

In Peaceful Places - Re-Posted

Though I seek Him in the morning
When clouds are gold with light,
And look for Him in twilight’s haze
Before the dark of night,
I will not find Him there.

While I may look into the storm
Hoping to see His face,
Or climb up to the mountains peak
With hope that it’s the place,
I will not find Him there.

But when, in peacefulness, I rest
Where meadow blossoms grow,
I find God waiting there for me
With peace I’ve longed to know.

Isaiah 32:17-19
The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever. My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.

Blessed and Grateful - Re-Posted

I sit surrounded by Your grace,
With blessings everywhere.
There is such bounty in my life
I’ve no room for despair.

The troubles that we all must face
Will come and then pass by.
With all the blessings in my life,
I won’t have time to cry.

There will be struggles, ups and downs,
But there’s no end to grace,
And keeping my eyes on the ups
Keeps the downs in their place.

I thank You Lord for blessing me
Beyond what I am due.
I count my blessings every day
And then give thanks to You!

A Good Philosophy - Re-Posted

Silent as a whispered thought,
They bloom beneath the tree
And focus all their efforts on
A plump, sweet blackberry.
A simple life, a perfect plan
Without complexity,
Yet with a patient diligence
They spread prolifically.
How rich would be the lives we touch
With their philosophy,
Live simply, but give it our all
And share abundantly.

Small and Great, Alike - Re-Posted

It startles me, sometimes, to see
The world formed by His hand,
Where even insects in a pond
Appear regal and grand.
Mountains may tower to the sky,
The oceans swathe the earth,
But something smaller than my hand
Still equals them in worth,
For it was formed by the same grace
That shaped the boundless skies.
However tiny it may be,
It sparkles in His eyes.

Psalm 115:13-14
he will bless those who fear the Lord— small and great alike.
May the Lord cause you to flourish, both you and your children.

Dawn Praise - Re-Posted

The golden light of dawn is nigh,
The quick birds, on the wing,
Are brushing just above the waves
Where wispy mists still cling.
As morning wakes to greet the dawn
The murmur of the gull
Ripples softly across the breeze
While sleepy waters lull.
And there, below the rising sun,
Where peaceful waters flow,
The morning sings its praise to God
Within the golden glow.

Watching Over Me - Re-Posted

I know that You are watching me,
That You are always there.
And yet it’s still a sweet surprise
When You show me You care.

I don’t need miracles to know
That You watch over me.
The fact that I have lived this long,
Makes that point succinctly.

I don’t need to have answered prayers
To let me know You hear.
The answer sometimes is just, “No”
But, that it’s You, is clear.

So, Lord, since I know You’re watching
Each little thing I do,
Help me to live my life such that
It’s most pleasing to You!

A Reward, A Joy - Re-Posted

Some days you have to let them play
And just kick back a while.
Let all the hassles of your day
Give way to their sweet smile.

They’re this little for just a bit
And then they’re on their way,
But you’ll keep these times in your heart;
The perfect, joy filled day.

Psalm 127:3
Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.

Hiding In Plain Sight - Re-Posted

There are those who hide in plain sight,
Too average to see,
And I have no doubt in my mind
That one of them is me.

But that’s okay, I don’t seek fame.
I hold the point of view
That, I’m okay, unseen by all,
If am seen by You.

In fact, I crave the silent world
Of living out of sight,
But I’m delighted when night falls
That You keep my world bright.

So I will hide out in plain sight,
Because it’s what I do,
And I’ll rejoice that You see me,
When I call out to You.

Psalm 139:11-12
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
