Rock Bottom

I don’t mind when the hard times come,
As they are bound to do,
Because I’ve found that, in such times,
I grow closer to You.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like pain
Or what it puts me through,
But when I hit rock bottom, Lord,
Then I’m standing on You.

You are my rock, my strong fortress,
The refuge I run to.
When every other hope is gone,
I still find hope in You.

I don’t want to live in distress,
But this much I hold true,
I don’t mind hitting rock bottom
When that rock, Lord, is You.

Psalm 61:2
from the end of the earth, I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I

Important or Immediate?

The days are flying by so fast
That I lose count of them.
They’re filled with hurry up and run,
With noise and with mayhem.

I’m finding that the crazy pace
Can take a toll on me
If I don’t stop and take the time
To seek serenity.

To find the place within the day
When all I hear is Him,
That moment when all of my stress
Fades softly, then grows dim.

So many things call out to me,
Demand my attention,
And each one holds the premise that
It should be the first done.

Yet I have come to understand
That the immediate
Is not always deserving of
The focus it may get.

So, I do what I need to do,
But I remember, too,
The one thing that still matters most
Is spending time with You.

Luke 9:35
And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to him!”

Abundant Blessings

Tonight, it’s just a praise of thanks
For blessings beyond count.
They spilled into a crazy day.
In awe I watched them mount.

I have so many thanks to say
I don’t know where to start,
But I am grateful for the love
That overflows my heart.

So, I will lift up thanks to all
Who gave such love to me
And thank You, Lord, for the blessing
Of loving company.
