Psalm 72:4-5

Psalm 72:4-5
May he defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; may he crush the oppressor. May he endure as long as the sun, as long as the moon, through all generations

Oh, Lord, I lift the aching soul
Who lives without a hope,
Also the weary parent who
Still needs the strength to cope.

I lift the child lost in a world
That seeks to do it harm.
And pray that You will shelter it
Safely within Your arm.

I lift the worker without work,
The homeless on the street,
The healer who is overwhelmed,
But won’t accept defeat.

A broken world cries out to You.
Lord, shield us in Your Grace,
Protect us until this world ends
And heaven takes its place.
