Too Deep For Words

Some days I cannot find the words.
My thoughts have drained away
From all the chaos or the pain
That I felt through the day.
I close my eyes, open my heart,
But, struggle though I may,
I can’t form thoughts, much less the words
That I so long to pray.

It is in those times of distress,
Of sorrow or dismay
That I can feel Him listening
To all that I can’t say.
I know that every hope and fear,
Each thought that I watch fray,
Is understood clearly by Him
Who hears what I can’t pray.

Romans 8:26
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
