That Which Endures

It seems so solid to my eyes,
With roots deep in the earth;
Reaching above the drifting clouds
Eons before my birth.

And yet, it too is transient,
Someday its strength will fail.
For it will crumble and be lost,
Each peak and shaded vale.

Don’t fix your eyes on what you see,
For it will end as dust.
Focus instead on what endures,
Placing in God your trust.

2 Corinthians 4:18
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
