Not Too Weary

You sent a friend to see me home,
He stayed close by my car,
Until the trees blocked him from view,
He never drifted far.

I’d been so weary as I drove,
But he lifted my heart,
Reminding me to rest in You,
As a good place to start.

Then You showed me my heart could soar,
Though weary at day’s end,
As I sailed down the road a bit
On the wings of a friend.

Although we traveled different ways
After a mile or two,
I’m grateful that I spent that time
With a friend, sent by You.

Isaiah 40:31
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
