Listening for Your Voice

I’ve settled in the sabbath rain
To rest and hear you voice.
There are still things I need to do,
But this is my first choice.

I heard Your Word spoken today,
In sermon and in song,
But I want to hear it from You.
It’s You, for whom I long.

The world is busy, full of sound,
And my mind’s busy, too.
I cannot silence the whole world,
But my soul longs for You.

So, Lord, I’ll sit and just be still,
Watching the autumn rain,
Until my mind’s quiet enough
To hear Your voice again.

1 Kings 19:12
And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.
