The Gift Of A Remembered Delight

When I was just a little child
I loved to watch the clouds
And all the magical creatures
That filled them up in crowds.

The dragon skirting the tree tops?

A Martian with a gun?

A funny rubber ducky or
A rocking horse? What Fun!

Now I’m old and responsible
For people in my care,
I have no time for daydreaming
Or creatures in the air,

And yet you sent this day to me
With all its clouds galore!
And I could not resist the chance
To be young just once more.

So thank you for the faery tales
With which you filled the sky;
And thank you for allowing me
To watch them passing by!
