The Edge of the Light

The world was shrouded in darkness.
The wind cut through the night;
Howling like wolves, fast on my trail
And touching me with fright.

I shivered at the sound of it,
I hid within the dark.
I knew that even the new dawn
Would be cold, grim and stark.

And so it was, when dawn appeared,
The grey skies lowered grim
And I just knew the dark would last…
But then I thought of him.

He stood for me when I was lost
Within the darkest night.
He led me from that bitter place
Back to the edge of light.

2 Samuel 22:29
You, LORD, are my lamp; the LORD turns my darkness into light.
