Waiting for the Dawn

The darkness holds me in its grasp;
The fears that it commands
Are twining thickly through my mind
And weakening my hands.

I have no strength to fight the foe
That seeks to bring me low.
I have no hope that I’ll escape
And no where I can go.

But I’ve lived as you asked me to
And I have done my best
To share your love, walk righteously
And trust you for the rest.

So, though the darkness tears at me
And I can barely stand,
I know the dawn will soon return;
You hold me in your hand.

Psalm 112:4
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
