From the darkness a light broke through,
The sun touched each small wave.
I raised my head and then my voice;
Suddenly I felt brave.
The darkness lost its deadly hold
Upon my weary heart,
For I was born a child of God.
I knew that from the start,
But I’d forgotten for a bit
That I belong to you.
Yet, when the light broke though the clouds,
I remembered anew.
