Quiet Time With Him

I often seek a quiet place
To ponder over things,
For, from peaceful contemplation,
Fresh understanding springs.

It is in solitude I hear
The still, small voice I seek,
And I can treasure in my heart
The thoughts I hear it speak.

I need to have that time alone
To spend just listening
For answers and, sometimes, questions
That time with Him can bring.

I’m not seeking eternal truths
Too vast to comprehend.
I’m looking for the small insights
I need at each day’s end.

The wisdom of a patient Lord,
The Shepherd’s guiding hand.
And peace that I can hold on to
When nothing goes as planned.

Sometimes the only thing I need
Is just to feel Him near,
His words of comfort in my pain
Are what I hope to hear.

I need the time alone with Him
To listen and to pray,
And gather up the strength I need
To face another day.

Psalm 107:43
Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder the loving deeds of the Lord.
