Faith, Not Fear

Why do I feel so anxious when
Joy appears well in hand?
Why do I walk each mountain peak
As if it were quicksand?

I have to learn to take in faith
The ups and downs of life,
And not let my joy be tainted
By worries of new strife.

I have to know that, come what may,
Each day will slip on by,
And some of them will bring laughter,
While others make me cry.

I cannot live on mountain tops
Without walking the vale,
Even salvation did not come
Without brutal travail.

But I can treasure each day’s gift,
Whether valley or peak.
And I will walk in faith, not fear,
For it is Him I seek.

2 Timothy 1:7
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
