Entangled, For Now - Re-posted

While I was walking in the trees
I saw a falling leaf
Entangled in a spider web;
An out of place motif.

For it belonged upon the tree
Or nestled on the ground
With all of its bright family,
There, scattered all around.

It hung in limbo, trapped in time,
Just spinning helplessly,
And somehow, when I saw it there,
I knew that I saw me.

For I am not who I once was,
Nor yet who I will be,
Instead I’m drifting, spinning, lost,
Longing to be set free.

But I have faith that in due time
That spinning leaf and I
Will break free of what holds us now
And, on God's breath, we'll fly.
