A Cry In The Storm

I watch the storm rise around me
While I stand on the shore
Knowing I may well be swallowed
If they rise too much more.
Fierce winds batter me to my knees
Where I lift up a prayer,
That I can only hope you hear
Through the turbulent air.

My faith is tested in the storms
Which drive me to my knee,
But it is in a humbled state
That you reach out to me.
For until then my mind is filled
With too much worldly noise,
But when I’m hurt I’m more inclined
To listen to your voice.

And so, while I am on my knees
Praying to face no harm,
Please help me listen all the time
And not wait for a storm.

Psalm 107:29
He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.
