Duty, Honor, Country

So many little memories
Are flooding through my mind;
The strength you shared, the love you gave,
The values you defined.
I still cannot believe you’re gone
Though my hand touches stone.
My heart’s a hole filled up with tears
Where sorrow dwells alone.
But I must rise and keep in faith
The promise that I gave
To guard, with care, all that you loved
And not your silent grave.
