Psalm 137:3-4

Psalm 137:3-4
for there our captors asked us for songs, our tormentors demanded songs of joy; they said, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!” How can we sing the songs of the Lord while in a foreign land?

How do I sing a song of joy
When sorrow holds my heart?
How will I ever find the hope
To try for a new start?

Where do I turn in a dark land
To find a guiding star?
And do I dare try to turn back
When I’ve wandered so far.

Yet, still You call to me each day,
Watch over me each night,
And lift my heart up from despair,
Give me the strength to fight.

You are my song in barren lands,
The Light that guides my way,
And I will hold to You in faith
Waiting for a new day.
