Simple Beauty

For all the elegance we feign,
All our sophistication,
We still fall short of true beauty
As found in His creation.

We fashion granite statuettes
Our canvases capture grace,
But we can’t fully duplicate
The beauty of a flower’s face.

It’s hard, sometimes, to understand
We’re but a vain pretender;
Though we aspire to create
Beauty of rarest splendor,
We can never quite emulate
That which God can render.
