Rooted in The Word

He said that he was going home,
Back to familiar soil.
He said that living here, for him,
Was too much stress and toil.

His roots went deep where he had grown
And he’d moved far away.
However much he loved this place,
He knew he couldn’t stay.

I realized that my roots, too,
Had grown in other loam,
So why was I so happy here?
How had this become home?

How could I have adjusted so?
Was there some flaw in me,
Something that I should try to fix?
I prayed you’d help me see.

But as I prayed I saw my roots
Delve deep within your grace
And that was when I realized
With you, home’s any place.

It doesn’t matter where I live
When I live in The Word;
My home is anywhere on earth
Where your voice can be heard.

John 1: 1-4
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
