Stirring of Peace

Today I finally felt a stir,
The first real breath of peace,
As if a sorrow, too long held,
Had found, at last, release.

It was a simple, little peace,
The peace that might be felt
By tiny blossoms, bound in snow,
At the first warmth of melt.

I still have a long way to go.
And it was a small thing,
But still, that little stir of peace,
Brings me a hope of spring.
