Beneath The Surface

Beneath the waters of the pond
The matted grasses twist,
Belying the calm surfaces
That seemingly exist.

Thus is it with my life right now,
The surface seems so calm,
But down below the worries twist
And life offers no balm.

How many others that I know
And live with day to day,
Hide all their worries out of sight
Of those met on their way?

How easy would it be for me
To help them with a word
And yet I often pass them by,
Their worries still unheard.

Oh Lord, help me to offer grace
To those who pass me by.
I may not be able to help,
But I can smile and try.

Hebrews 6:10
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
