Matthew 8: 23-27

Watching the storm clouds gathering,
I remember the tale
Of how he soothed the raging seas
And calmed the frenzied gale.
They woke him, when the tempest rose,
And called on him for help
Lest they be cast into the waves
And drowned like foam and kelp.
He calmed the storm with just a word,
He soothed the frothing sea.
They wondered, though they knew him well,
How such a thing could be.
Then he reminded them that faith
Was all that they would need
To calm the sea and still the storm;
Just simple faith, in deed.

So as I watch the storm clouds rise
Above the winter sea
I ask not that he soothe storm,
But give more faith to me.

Matthew 8: 23-27
23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
