With Grace, Not Rage

In giving grace, we hope to find
That same grace given back.
Though all too often now-a-days
We come under attack.

The world has opened up its heart
To anger and to rage,
Without the understanding that
Such wrath becomes a cage.

It locks our hearts away from those
With whom we walk each day,
Until we’re left all to ourselves,
Alone and in dismay.

There is no one to whom to turn
When pain touches our heart,
Because we’ve cursed and cast aside
The loving, gracious heart.

There is no shoulder to lean on
When tears begin to flow,
For we have driven off all those
Who had once loved us so.

Cast from your heart soul killing rage,
Swallow the words of hate,
That your soul might break free the hold
Of anger’s bitter fate.

You were not born to walk this path
Alone and in despair.
Offer the grace you would receive.
I promise you, it’s there.

Ephesians 4: 31-32
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
