Gold and Grace - Revised and Re-Posted

I needed a small reminder

Of all in life that’s sweet,
Of all the things I’d overlooked
When this day was complete.

The many tasks still left undone,
The bills still not yet paid,
The goals, as yet unaccomplished,
All the mistakes I made

Were all that I could call to mind
When I had time to think.
Just then a splash of vibrant gold
Drew me back from the brink.

That little flash of golden joy

Was unmistaken Grace
For all those worries fell away
And new hope took their place.

I know that I am much more blessed
Than I had understood,
For God has His eye on my life,
And that is always good.

It doesn’t have to be easy
For my life to be sweet.
I just needed that reminder
To make my day complete.
