Love Your Neighbor

You’ve called upon me to give grace
To those along my path,
But why does it have to include
Those who deserve my wrath?

Those who cut me off in traffic,
Or drive too close behind.
Don’t You think it would be okay
To share what’s on my mind?

Or what about that person who
Thinks that they know it all,
And hasn’t figured out they don’t.
Is that not a fair call?

There are so many irritants
That I deal with each day,
It has to be okay sometimes
To speak out, have my say!

Well, yes, I might have been stupid
Or thoughtless, now and then,
But I’m deserving of some grace….. ohhhhh,
Just like my fellow men.

I ought to give the grace I need
From others every day
And stop looking for reasons to
Let my ego hold sway.

I need to see myself in those
Who I find annoying,
Then offer them the forgiveness
For which I am asking.

I can’t ask for what I won’t give,
You instructions were clear,
Loving my neighbor as myself
Means forgive and hold dear.

Mark 12:31
The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
