Turning Back

I always was a wayward child,
Heading off my own way.
I never wanted to sit still,
For I was bound to stray.

Yet You were patient as I strayed,
And kept an eye on me,
Knowing full well that I’d be back
Where I was meant to be.

Lord, You knew that the day would come
When Your voice made it through.
The willful child, with her hard head,
Would circle back to You.

So thank You for that patient grace
That taught me not to roam,
And let rejoicing fill Your heart;
This sinner’s coming home!

Luke 15:7
I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
