It’s quite remarkable to me
How just a cheery face
Can turn the course of someone’s day
Or lighten a sad place.
Today did not start out too well,
But you sent smiles my way
And, though it still was less than great,
It was a joyful day.
So thank you for the cheery smiles,
The kind words strangers spoke,
And thank you for the friendly folk
That lightened my day’s yoke.
