Woe to you who clean your hands,

But leave your soul in stain.

For, despite all the pomp and show,

The true filth will remain.

 

That which stains the body is slight,

But that which stains the soul

Will serve to assure what’s shattered

Can never be made whole.

 

Waste less time on appearances

And focus on within,

If you hope to ever be clean

Of soul destroying sin.

 

Matthew 23:25-26

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.
