The darkness settles into rain,
With wind twisting the trees,
And, were I who I once had been,
I’d fall upon my knees
And beg You to watch over me.
I’d cry, “Protect me, please.”
But, Lord, I’ve come to understand,
However dark the night,
That You are watching over me
And, much to my delight,
The night will never grow so fierce
That I won’t see Your Light.
So, I will lay down peacefully
And wake when night is through,
Knowing that I am always safe
When I am close to You.
Psalm 3:5
I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord
sustained me.
