Where My Treasure Is - Re-Posted

I stored up treasures on this earth
I locked them safe away,
And yet, despite my diligence
They still fell to decay.

But when I stored up heaven’s wealth
By serving here on earth,
I found my treasure never failed,
It only grew in worth.

Matthew 6:19-20
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Bee-Like Me - Re-Posted

The bee moves quickly, bloom to bloom,
Collecting, as it goes,
The pollen that each blossom needs
To help their new blooms grow.

I’m want to be like that small bee,
And gather joy each day,
That I can then share with the world
That I pass on my way.

To gather love and give it back,
To share joy, is a gift.
And there are those who need them both
To give their hearts a lift.

So let me be as busy, Lord,
As that small, golden bee,
For there are “blossoms” everywhere
Who need a bee like me.

Stop Looking Back

It seemed that I always looked back
Recounting my mistakes.
I wasn't inclined to skip one
Or give me any breaks.

I’d count them and I’d flail myself
For living with such sin.
I’d ask forgiveness for the wrongs,
Then flail myself again.

It didn’t matter that I knew
That I’d been forgiven,
I still carried the memories
Of each and every sin.

One night as I lay in despair
And shame at all I’d done
Knowing that forgiveness was mine,
A gift I had not won,

I read the words that finally
Broke through the endless blame
And allowed me to let go of
A whole lifetime of shame.

The words appeared so mundanely,
But in answer to prayer.
If He has forgotten my sins
Why should I give them care?

I understand that, by His death,
He cast them far from me
And I will no longer call back
Sins from which I am free.

Psalm 103:12
as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

That Wayward Child

I was that wayward child, oh Lord,
Headstrong, going my way.
I spent so much time being lost
I thought that’s how I’d stay

And I have heard it often said,
With no sense of dismay,
That it is the nature of youth,
To wander far astray.

But I have lived a long time now,
Face to face with the truth,
And I apologize, oh Lord,
For my poorly spent youth.

For wandering so far astray
That You had to find me,
Instead of being in the place
Where I was meant to be.

But You loved me enough, oh Lord,
To call me back to You
And give me purpose in each day
Enough to see me through.

Though I still feel the lure sometimes
Of going my own way,
I smile, content that I have learned
I’m happier to stay.

Luke 15:24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
