Lie Down and Sleep

Lord, I lay down each night to sleep
And trust my world to You.
You’ve kept me safe for all these years
And always seen me through.

I don’t think I could sleep at night
If You were not nearby
And I was not tucked safely in
Beneath Your loving eye.

But You are here and I can sleep,
I’m safe within Your care,
And, Lord, I thank You with full heart
For always being there.

Psalm 4:8
In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Working in Your Plan

I had a moment when the tears
Formed in my eyes again
As I came face to face with grace
That grew out of Your plan.

I didn’t know it until now,
But I can clearly see
I was not living in the plan
That You had made for me.

I know that I was working hard
And doing what I could,
But clearly I needed a change
To do the work I should.

It took some time to see the truth
You wanted me to see,
The truth that I am happiest
Within Your plan for me!

3 John 1:4
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

Not Alone in the Dark

Whenever I am all alone
And all the world seems dark,
It is Your Word to which I cling.
You are my living spark.

For You once took an endless void
And filled it with Your light.
Darkness cannot confound Your Word.
You’re my hope and delight.

Genesis 1:2-3
The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
