The seasons
pass, the years fly by,
And youth is
quickly gone,
But wisdom
and understanding
Will help us
carry on.
Nor wisdom
my strong suit.
I’m not sure
why all my long years
Seem to have
born poor fruit.
Is, despite
my crop fail,
I’ve held on
to You, root and branch,
Throughout my life’s travail.
For You’ve
held tight to me.
I may not be
Your perfect fruit,
But I’m
still on Your tree.
Remain in
me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain
in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
Is not
wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding?
