Matthew
2: 13-14
When
they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he
said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I
tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”
So
he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt,
They
thought they’d traveled far enough
Just
to reach Bethlehem,
But
that was only the first step
On
the long road for them.
The
angel came to warn them all
That
Herod’s wrath was great,
That
he had ordered brutal death
To
be Bethlehem’s fate.
They
were to rise and travel on
To
a far distant land,
That
they would not fall prey to those
Who
served Herod’s command.
And
so, they rose and left swiftly.
Obedient
always,
They
traveled to a distant land
Their hearts filled with His praise.
