Luke
2: 6-7
While
they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to
her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger,
because there was no guest room available for them.
It
wasn’t much more than a shed,
Barely
cover at best,
But
it is was all that they could find
To
give birth and to rest.
Joseph
must have swept back the muck
And
spread clean straw around,
But
he could not clear out the smell,
Or
warm the frozen ground.
And
so, the Savior of mankind
Was
born on barnyard straw.
A
humble start for one who would
Soon
fill the world with awe.
