Matthew 2:7-8
and 12
Then
Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star
had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for
the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and
worship him.”
And
having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their
country by another route.
There
is a darkness in the world
That
ate at Herod’s heart.
He
heard word of the Savior’s birth,
And
was jealous to start.
He
wanted no one to call king,
That
child of prophecy.
As
if, by denying Christ that,
He
could not make it not be.
But
those he sent to find the child
And
tell him where He lay,
Were
wise enough to heed God’s call.
They slipped, quickly, away.
