2:15-16
When
the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one
another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the
Lord has told us about.” So, they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and
the baby, who was lying in the manger.
They
rose and went to Bethlehem
To
kneel down at His side.
The
words that they had heard last night,
Brought
joy they could not hide.
An
awe that took their breath away,
Though
humble in His birth,
The
savior the angels proclaimed
Had
come to redeem earth.
And
they were first to hear the word,
Not
kings upon their throne,
But
those who’d lived without a hope
Were
claimed first as His own.
