My Daily Bread

Give us today our daily bread.
Most people will concede
That request is about the food
Which a body will need.
 
They’re likely right, but I still hold
I need to feed this soul,
Which You have redeemed out of death,
To keep it strong and whole.
 
You’ve told us You’re the bread of life,
And that’s the bread I crave.
The bread that comes from time with You,
Who rose up from the grave.
 
Let my soul feed upon Your Word
Until it fills me up.
Then I’ll drink the Water of Life
You’ve poured into my cup.
 
Give me today my daily bread,
For body and soul, too.
Let me spend time with You each day,
The Bread I need is You.
